Gwen's Girls-Ten
I am so excited to be a part of this years 10th annual fashion fundraiser with Gwen's Girls! It is so important to give back to the commynity I love so much. And growing up as one of three with a single mother I know how much organizations like Gwen's Girls can do to enrich the lives of those in need. The event is at the beautiful Frick Art and Historical Center-where I worked for a year once in college- on May 19th at 7pm. The theme this year is "Puttin' on the Ritz" and the color is black. I have been dying to experiment with some Paul Poiret silhouettes. Just give me an excuse. So here is my final sketch for the design.
Although a nice rendition, this sketch does not do justice to what I am making! I went to Pittsburgh's Loom and found some gorgeous lace. I scored some beautiful shantung satin that I will be dying with an ombre technique, lined with a super soft benburg. I am about 2/3 of the way done! The pattern is drafted, toille has been made and fitted on the model, and the final dress is halfway sewn. I am looking forward to my next fitting, finishing the hem, and even more to sewing my Jen Rocket tag in! I can't wait to see what the other Pittsburgh fashion designers have put together as well. Don't fret I'll post pics of the event too.
