Maple and Vine

These pregnancy pads were commissioned for use on stage for Pittsburgh's City Theatre Company for the recent Maple and Vine production. Check out this great article from Pittsburgh Entertainment Central. The Show's female lead Katha (Robin Abramson) progresses through three stages of pregnancy 3,7, and 9 months. Each pad was made by machine and hand sewing using layers of reticulated foam, batting, fleece, and various stretch fabrics with a Velcro closure at the back. The 7 month pad was specially designed to open quickly and silently for a wardrobe change on stage. This was accomplished with reinforced sew on snaps.
